Breanna Gamble (Grade 8, Robbie's class) and Drew Evans (Grade 7, Robbie's Class) have been recognized for their use of GPS and GIS technologies in their science fair project debunking an urban legend of the sneakers over the power lines. The kids worked with Harrisburg City vice detectives to prove the urban legend to be false-that drug dealers use the sneakers to mark where they are selling drugs. Breanna and Drew received a first place award at the Capital Area Science and Engineering Fair and were also interviewed by WITF reporter Renee Gutel for a story during NPR’s Morning Edition. The website About.com also ran a story on their project. See Breanna and Drew’s project here.

Congratulations to our talented students!
